Seamist Looms!
Lyn Goodall

Lyn Goodall warns that it’s time to start planning again for that popular live-in weekend — it’s just a few short weeks away

Between Friday 7th and Sunday 9th November, 2003, another Seamist experience is being planned. Why not take the opportunity to spend a relaxing weekend with excellent company, great food and get to work on your computer?

The Seamist Weekend

Seamist is a Palamino Stud, situated off Wensleydale Station Road, Wensleydale and is about 90 minutes drive from the Westgate Bridge. The weekend begins on a Friday afternoon/evening and finishes Sunday afternoon around 4.30 pm.

The whole weekend is very relaxed and people can choose to arrive Friday and stay for the two nights, or arrive on Saturday morning and stay one night. The welcome is very warm and the food is great!

Expect the Unexpected!

No two weekends are ever the same - the experience is what you make it! The group typically consists of members of all ages and experience and people come as individuals, couples or families and there is no set agenda.

A separate "workshop" cabin is used to set up computers and other gear and participants can bring as many computers as they think they can handle in one weekend. Members usually bring a variety of "kit" including screwdrivers, cables, disks, CD players, peripherals, various plugin cards and any other toys you can think of to play with!

This time there will be workshops, group discussions and individual help with those hardware and software problems. There will also be diagnostic trouble shooting hardware and software tools available and Tom Coleman (the DOS King) has again consented to come as our trainer. He loves a challenge and if there's a system to reconfigure or something that can be taken to bits to see if it's working properly - he's your man!

If you want to see how a computer is assembled, how to make it work better, share and increase knowledge of games, new programs and freebies, check your HDD performance, reformat drives, do general maintenance work, get into networking, upgrade systems, configure backup systems or do anything else with a computer - now is the time to do it!

If you haven't had the Seamist experience before - check it out for yourself, and if you have been before, there's a chance you'll meet up with old acquaintances and enjoy a different experience this time.

Costs and Bookings

Costs are $30.00 to Melb PC members for the trainer and cost of training room. Accommodation (including meals) - Friday after dinner to Sunday pm $110.00. Dinner on Friday is an extra $18.00. Focus on what you like doing, with a group of people with whom you have a common interest. It is a nice way to spend a weekend.
