AGM and Voting This year there has been one nomination for each of the executive positions but voting will be required to elect the committee. I would like to see many members voting for the candidates that you feel will best represent your interests. If you cannot attend the AGM then please use the postal vote. If you cannot decide on the best candidates from their 100 word statements that commence on page 17 in this issue and don't know many candidates personally, but still would like to have your say, only then should you give someone your proxy form. This form can be downloaded from the Web at: http://www.melbpc.org.au/committee/proxy2003.pdf. FileMaker Pro Special Interest Group This is a new group with a history that is different from most of our other Interest Groups, as it was a part of iMUG (Internet Macintosh User Group), formerly VMUG (Victorian Macintosh User Group) and has decided to join the Melbourne PC User Group. FileMaker Pro is a very user friendly and versatile database that runs comparably on computers running Windows or Mac OS. This Group will be of interest primarily to developers on both Macintosh and IBM platforms, people who use FileMaker in the workplace and the serious hobbyists. Meetings will include presentations of database solutions, exploring techniques and issues and problem solving for members. The new group meets on the fourth Monday at 27 Dorcas St. South Melbourne. If ever you have a busy line when trying to connect, we now have available a number of additional dial-in lines from another Telco and these lines are presently under utilised. These lines provide access for all members calling from the Melbourne local area, and provide direct access from some nearer outer areas for the cost of a local call charge. A list of all phone exchanges that should provide this wider access can be viewed at http://www.melbpc.org.au/report/prefixes.txt. Eligibility for connection through these modems is limited to members who already have a FULL Melb PC Internet subscription and the knowledge to install an additional dialler icon on their PC or feel comfortable changing the phone number on the existing icon. To apply for access through these additional Melbourne lines, please e-mail extralines@melbpc.org.au from your Melb PC mail account-please also ensure you include the word "extralines" and your username (all in lower case) in the Subject of your e-mail - eg. extralines jsmith.
