Volunteers corner

Things have been pretty quiet in the corner lately, although a few volunteers have come forward, and a few vacancies have occurred. Some vacancies have been filled, but others still need people.

Monthly Meeting

You may recall we required a couple of members who attend, or would be willing to attend, the monthly meeting in order to staff a Welcome Table. We still need to find some friendly, welcoming people who would like to meet new members and members attending the meeting for the first time.

Remember your first meeting, and how it felt to walk into a room full of strangers? A bit daunting, so please think about being a Welcomer, so others needn't feel that way.

Swap Meets

Most swap meets currently have enough volunteers, although Ivanhoe is the exception. If anyone could spare a couple of hours on the third Sunday in each month to help out, it would be great. You even get to attend the Swap Meet for free, and meet some other members into the bargain. Come on, all you members, you might even learn something whilst answering visitors queries.

If you'd like to volunteer for the other Meets, we could put you on our emergency list as sometimes the regular staff just can't make it for some reason, and it would be good to be able to call on you to fill in for them.

General

One thing I have noticed, as I've worked on the Volunteer DataBase is that the same names keep appearing in various areas. The Group is fortunate to have these people willing and able to help, but they can't keep up the pace for ever; volunteer burnout is alive and kicking so come on, help out a little and get that warm fuzzy feeling!

Perhaps the Sig Leaders, and others who haven't contacted me so far with an up to date list of their current volunteers, could do so soon. please? I really would like to get this data base completed, so that we'll have a current reference regarding the requirement for volunteers, that both the office and myself can use.

That's about it for now, so please think about helping out. Feel free to leave a message with the office or email jda@melbpc.org.au
